Our tilt and turn double-glazed windows and doors do more than just look good

Environmentally-friendly

Plustec uses mostly our own uPVC profile which employs environmentally-friendly CaZn stabilisers to manufacture our windows. The use of CaZn stabilisers means that the Plustec profiles are now fully recyclable.

We are also active members of the Vinyl Council of Australia, part of the Product Stewardship Programme to ensure that our profiles meet national Best Practice PVC requirements.

Tilt and turn

Our standard windows are European Tilt and Turn, and operate from the inside. A window is primarily used in tilt mode for ventilation, and the turn operation used for cleaning the outside glass from inside the home without removing the flyscreen (located externally), as well as additional ventilation. Our unique tilt and turn design also provides a secure means of leaving a window open for ventilation at night.

Low maintenance

Low maintenance is a driving force behind uPVC windows – they create a 21% 25-year NVP (net present value) advantage over timber. The windows don’t require painting or treatment, only cleaning – enjoy the timber look without the maintenance! We use double-glazing with 24mm overall thickness and higher (at least 12mm air gap), sourced in Australia and with a ten-year warranty against failure.

A whole range of colours

We offer an extensive range of colour options, including standard white profiles inside and out, off-white inside and out. We have in-house laminations of white or cream white timber look, shadow black, ash black, anthracite grey, Silver Brush Effect, Moondance, Bronze Platinum, Walnut, Golden Oak, Rubinrot (Red), Quarzgrau (Grey) windows and doors which can be one side or both sides (even different colour inside and out). More than 100 colours are available as a special order. View colours here.

Climate protection

We use profiles that have a special mixture developed specifically for hot/high UV climates (increased levels of TiO2). The formulation prevents discoloration of the profile. This profile formulation has been used in the UAE for almost two decades where the UV is as high (if not higher!) than that in Australia. Our darker Renolit foils used on the exterior are normally Renolit FX, which has heat reflective properties and a much higher UV resistance than standard MX foils. None of our profiles are sourced from China.

Insulation with a difference

A significant challenge in the Australian window market has been the poor sealing of operating sashes (the Australian Standard allows up to 5.0L/s.m2). The Plustec system uses a double seal, resulting in air infiltration levels as low as 0.1 L/s.m2 (delivering better heating and cooling, as well as increased sound insulation). Our German window hardware system also includes multiple locking points, creating a positively sealed and highly secure system. The 24mm or 30mm overall double glazed units ensure that the minimum recommended airgap of 12mm between glass is always maintained, providing an optimum balance between insulation and noise reduction.

Australian bushfire considerations

With the advent of Australian Standard AS3959 2009 now being adopted across Australia, the following ratings can be achieved:

•  BAL 19 – Standard Plustec Window with specific glass considerations
•  BAL 29 – Standard Plustec Window with specific glass considerations
•  BAL 40 – Aluminium Clad Plustec Window with specific glass considerations
•  Flyscreens are fitted outside as the windows generally open inwards, easily complying with the standard.
